Aaron P. Mann, composer

Aaron P. Mann (he/him), an instructor at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, Perkinston Campusteaches voice, choir, and music theory. Aaron holds degrees from William Carey University, a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance; the University of Southern Mississippi, Master of Music in Choral Conducting; and is currently working on his Doctor of Musical Arts, emphasized in Vocal Pedagogy and Musical Theatre with a Cognate in Collaborative Piano. In the beginning of the Fall of 2022, He was awarded Mississippi Music Teacher Association’s Composer of the Year; premiering his set of pieces Songs of Meditation. Aaron believes music should be an engine of expression for all involved: conductor, performers, and audience members. “We are all conduits of expression. Through our experiences, we develop not only a sense of self, but a sense of our best selves which can be taxing. I strive to give others a reprieve from their day-to-day lives and allow them to lose themselves in the textures and nuances of my pieces. I strive to share how I view our world through music; allowing others to strip away their worries and cares and get lost in my universe.”
